-70 of new cases in Lagos
The National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) as at late Sunday night confirmed 80 new cases of Coronavirus which indicated that the spread of the deadly virus is on the rise.
70 of the new cases were recorded in Lagos State alone, while Abuja keep its distance second place that the virus is ravaging with 7 cases.
According to NCDC on its official twitter handle:
“Eighty-six new cases of #COVID19 have been reported;
70 in Lagos
7 in FCT
3 in Katsina
3 in Akwa Ibom
1 in Jigawa
1 in Bauchi
1 in Borno
“As at 11:50 pm 19th April there are 627 confirmed cases of #COVID19 reported in Nigeria” NCDC reported.
The centre coordinating the disease in Nigeria also disclosed that 170 Coronavirus patents discharged, while, 21 deaths recorded so far in the country.
Prof. Akin Abayomi, Lagos Commissioner for Health also confirmed the 70 new cases of the deadly virus in Lagos, while given update on the situation on his twitter handle.
The Commissioner wrote:
“70 new #COVID19 cases confirmed in Lagos.
“The total number of confirmed #COVID19Lagos cases are now 379.
Prof. Abayomi also announced that four COVID – 14 patients who recovered were discharged to make total discharged cases in the state 98.
“4 additional fully recovered #COVID19 patients all male, were discharged”
“Total discharged #COVID19Lagos cases are now 98.
As usual, the Commissioner appealed to residents to continue to adhere to stipulated measures in containing the virus.
